Touchstone Teach Literacy Center will be a multi-dimensional educational setting where children, across the developmental spectrum, engage in instructional activities aimed at supporting and developing early literacy skills and language development. The space will be fashioned with a warm and inviting aesthetic designed to engage young children in early literacy experiences and enhance school aged children’s understanding of text through activities that focus on comprehension skills. The activities feature interactive, and hands-on experiences that are developmentally appropriate and differentiated to meet the diverse needs of learners.

A cozy corner of the literacy center is dedicated to soft, durable board books with engaging sensory features. Infants and toddlers can explore books with textured pages, peek-a-boo flaps, crinkly fabrics, and interactive elements that stimulate their senses.

Colorful posters with nursery rhymes and songs adorn the walls of this station. Caregivers can sit with their children and sing familiar rhymes together, using hand motions and gestures to reinforce language patterns and rhythm. Musical instruments such as shakers and tambourines are available for added sensory stimulation

Equipped with a play kitchen, doll house, and puppet theater with colorful puppets, these play items invite children and caregivers to engage in imaginative play and storytelling. These items encourage children and caregivers to act out stories, encourage conversation, and promote social interaction between children.
